softLINK
Services
soft
LINK
is the
TCP/IP based shared Internet service which uses its own International
Gateway for the upstream connectivity. The TCP/IP service is called shared
Internet as the upstream bandwidth is shared among the users. The user
connected on the service has access to the complete Internet services
available world wide such as:
How
to access the softLINK?
softLINK will be managed
through a Wide Area Network plan and you will be connected to the Network. You
will get an Ethernet port on a LAN. The LAN will be further connected to
the International Gateway and managed from Network Control Centre of STPI
Guwahati. The LAN set-up will be directly
connected to the International Gateway through a UTP backbone, whereas the
LANs in different locations will be connected to the International Gateway
via a microwave link or optical backbone.
Units
located outside STPI Complex
Units located outside STPI complex may access softLINK
services either by Radio Local Loops or by leased BSNL local loops.
(a)
By Leased Radio Local Loops
Microwave radio connection of the
desired bandwidth is set up from customer's premises to the International
Gateways of STPI. These links are installed and maintained by STPI itself.
The data rate options available for softLINK Services on Radio are - n x 64 Kbps or n x 2048 Kbps.
(b) By Leased
BSNL
Local Loop
The physical
ckt. is hired from BSNL.
This leased line will have the capacity to carry the desired bandwidth
from STPI to customer premises. STPI will provide port access on its
router. A wired n x 64 K is hired form DoT for
the customers. The customer will need to hire a lease line, of the
required data rate, from DoT and will pay for the installation and annual
lease access for the local loop. STPI will provide port access on its
router and will charge for the same.
